  As others have mentioned, the smog check was not $22.95, it was $61.95. Our car didn't pass the test, so he delivered the bad news that we had 2 cracks in our catalytic converter. I was thankful it was discovered, and agreed to an estimate of $1259.07 to replace it. Call me a fool but we don't live in that town and needed to get it taken care of. As far as we can tell, the work was done just fine, so I am giving 2 stars instead of 1. However, the most disturbing part of our interaction was when I returned 2.5 hours later to be told that their internet was down, and I would have to pay in cash. When I said I would wait until the internet was back up, he made more statements about how it may not be fixed by the end of the day, so he needed cash. He even offered to drive me to my bank. When I explained that I would not get into a stranger's car to take out $1,300 cash (no offense) he was dismissive of my concerns as a customer, and as a woman. Feeling trapped, I called someone to come and give me a ride so we could just get the cash and get our car back. I tried calling the BBB in SB, but have not heard back. My concern is that this not happen to anyone else. Everyone I have spoken with in our hometown has said that was a completely unprofessional handling of our car repair in terms of payment. And our hometown mechanic is furious. I am writing this in hopes that it will help others avoid what happened to me.
